Interesting...

Over the weekend, starting Texas DB Tarell Brown got into a bit of trouble...

ESPN: Texas CB Brown faces drugs, weapons charges

For the record, we will not be casting any first stones hereabouts. College aged adults make dumb decisions, and should be exhonerated if possible, held responsible if appropriate, and educated throughout.

Interestingly enough, it seems that all of the problematic items (gun, drugs, etc.) belong to someone else after all. So, Brown may get to play, even if he doesn't start.

Again, these young men are high profile- anything that happens to them is under the brightest scrutiny. If Brown is only responsible for hanging out with knuckleheads, then so be it.

However, this story in the Austin Statesman makes you wonder if the student athletes in question might recieve 'friendlier' treatment: Statesman: Free football tickets? Judges say 'Yes'

As much as I love the game, the impact it has on society at large really worries me. And yes, I know I'm part of the problem...
