The End. For Realz.

First, we need to address an issue that's been raised by our competition committee. This is Jake's official press release/statement.
I was unaware of my father's involvement in the process of picking winners each week in The Big Howevermany pick'em league. I will not be made available to the media until after the Bowl Pick'em league has concluded.
Easy to joke about it when you're running away with the league. Not this week though- another Auburn alumni ended up one point away from a perfect.

Jordy rose to the top- when you don't have to think about your team's bowl assignment, it helps you focus.

As mentioned earlier, Jake won the league by an unprecedented 25 points. That's half a week's worth of effort.

Only marriage could keep the top group from being dominated by Shikes. To look at Jake's achievement another way, he won it by 8 picks... an average week (or two, for me)

At the end of the year, Dan finished dead last, but at least he got his photo on ESPN:

So, that's all she wrote for this season; things next year will certainly be different, since some folks will be playing for league and conference dominance.

Stay tuned for the Bowl Challenge... personally, I'm going to try to get Paula back on board, since she and I have something more at stake.

Th1rt3en

Let's just get this out of the way right now. 37-7 means that I get to quote Proverbs:
Train children in the right way, and when old, they will not stray.
So, this being Z's first edition of The Game, she gets to help celebrate:

It only makes sense, then, that her parents would have his best picks week, only finishing behind Auburn's finest:
While TCU continues to roll on the field, their representative in the league decided to pack it in a week early...

So, after 13 weeks, Jake's ended up on top of both groups.

For perspective, he's 8 picks ahead of the Shikes in second place- that's almost a full week's worth of work:

On the score sheet, it says that there may be a 14th week... if so, we'll be right back here next Sunday/Monday. If not, though, keep your eyes on this space and your email for the Bowl Challenge; really our only hope at beating Jake for the final championship.

Unless the NCAA makes him vacate his wins, that is. :)

Twelfth Night

Sorry for the delay in getting this up- like I said, we were in Texas with others...

In fact, I wouldn't have done this at all if Michael hadn't hounded me to post an account of his perfect week:
This is his second perfect week of the year; since 0-10 "my iPhone glitched" is perfectly awful.

Two of our top scorers have fallen off the map a bit- Doug and Aaron's game has shifted significantly.

With one week to go, here's where we stand:
Jake has the "picks" portion all wrapped up, it seems

And, barring some catastrophic event, he looks to run away with the double crown.

Last week... Don't blow it this close to the finish line!

Eleventy!!1!111!!1!

Before we get to this week's scores, let's take a gander at happy fans headed for Toomer's Corner:

Now, onto the goodness- Dan rises from the ashes and gets adopted by the Terpenings for a week:

I never thought that I'd a) be in first place for a week or b) that it'd happen because I picked Southern Cal:

Jake seems to be running away with this- unless he's ruled ineligible by the NCAA for illegal benefits:

There's still a chance that TCU and Auburn could meet in the NCG, but Oregon's going to have to lose, and Doug's going to need to work miracles:

Personally, I'm proud to be in a "people who've missed a week" sandwich. Sigh.

Update next week will be late, if at all- Carrie, Scott, Michael, Jordy, and I will be watching Baylor struggle against Oklahoma. Sic 'em Bears.

Perfect 10? Hardly...

Man, what a brutal weekend- only two people were above .500 with picks:

And of course it was the TCU and Auburn fans. How awesome would it be for the War Tigers and Frogs to end up in Glendale to break a tie between Doug and Jake?

Michael was perfect. I'll just leave it at that.

All that being said, Doug hasn't done as well as he could have in the points realm:

Only a few more weeks to go- mostly bragging rights now, but hey! Anything can happen!

Viva Nueve!!

With one month left to go, we've had a couple of interesting moves over on our picks league. First, Doug has his worst week this year after such a strong start:

While Aaron rebounds to top the points for the week:

Close battle for number one- Jake leads the picks:

While Steve leads the points:

Also, Dan and I are warring for the "craptastic" award for bottom feeders- although, I think I've got it wrapped up because I haven't missed a week. Those scores are all mine, baby.

Four more weeks to go...
